One of the homes featured in our magazine this month holds a significant place in our community’s history. The home was originally owned by the Poe family, and retains the original chandeliers and coal-burning fireplaces in nearly every room. The home was built for F.W. Poe Jr., whose father owned nearby Poe Manufacturing Co. and lived on James Street for many years until his death in 1926. Several families have lived in the home over the years, adding tennis courts, an additional building in the back and a circular drive, but the basic character of the home remains intact. So it’s reassuring to know some traditions do stand the test of time, just the way it should be at this time of year.
