The Music Club of Greenville held its elegant black-tie gala at the Poinsett Club in downtown Greenville. It was a delightful evening of dinner and song and featured Karen Parks, soprano. The gala began with a beautiful cocktail reception. Guests were then invited into the ballroom for a delicious three-course seated dinner.

Parks gave a stunning performance in her “coming home concert.” It was a program combining opera and gospel. The guests were on their feet before the last note was completed, begging for an encore. Parks was accompanied by well-known pianist Michael Rice.

The purpose of The Music Club of Greenville is to encourage the appreciation of music, to stimulate interest in Greenville, and to support education in the field of music. The club awards scholarships each year to high school students who are planning on majoring in music in college.
